Experience

Opus Motorcar Co.

Founder, CEO

I founded an innovative vehicle startup using his scaled-up technology from the micromobility industry to power street capable MicroEVs. During my time there, I carved out a legal pathway for low speed vehicle ownership and achieved national media attention for our work.

I managed hiring, development, and marketing campaigns during my time there and was very involved in the development. I personally maintained and prepared vehicles for delivery and designed many fixtures and components for manufacturing.

Skill highlights:

Project management, communication, electronics, design, marketing, automotive engineering, Autodesk Inventor.

NASA RASC-AL Competition

Team Lead

I led a student team to national finals in a NASA design competition. We were tasked with proposing a near-future crewed Mars mission using readily available technologies. Judges cited our planetary protection policies and surface operations as particularly innovative, and I was personally awarded “Most Likely to Host a Future RASC-AL Competition” for my effective presentation skills.

As Team Lead, I set design objectives and development timelines. Using systems engineering principles, I managed a team of 7 through multiple design revisions. As well as management tasks, I was actively involved in the design process. I was responsible for determining trajectories and vehicle specs for our Martian Transfer Vehicle, as well as the design of our surface habitat.

Skill highlights:

Systems engineering, public speaking, orbital mechanics, STK, GMAT, Jira, Trello, spacecraft design, human spaceflight standards.

Rover Robotics

Lead Mechanical Engineer/Product Owner

Rover Robotics is a company developing ground robots for academic and commercial applications. I managed costdowns, production, and revisions for their existing platform, the Rover Pro, as well as design and prototyping tasks for their next generation project, the Rover Mini.

Rover being a small company, I wore many hats during my tenure there. From managing the company website to troubleshooting RMAs, I became intimately familiar with the quirks of hardware, software, and firmware in robotics. I spearheaded rapid prototyping efforts on the Mini and turned around a pre-production prototype in 2 months.

Skill highlights:

Project management, communication, robotics, ROS, rapid prototyping, injection molding, Solidworks, Onshape, networking.

Progeny Systems Corporation

Engineering Support Specialist IV

I worked with the Intelligent Systems Group to support their in-house drone platform. I balanced time between design, assembly, and operations tasks as we spun up the system for field tests. During my time there, I designed a quick-release system for the vehicle’s landing legs, reducing deployment time by a half hour per drone.

In this time I became deeply familiar with drone operation, troubleshooting, and deployment. I monitored real-time telemetry data from the ground and performed field repairs on vehicles in rugged conditions.

Skill highlights:

Drone design, ground operations, flight operations, communication, mechanical design, Pixhawk flight controllers, ardupilot, Fusion 360.
